Yearning is the last sectin of Missing
series. The device combined the
feature of the first two works (The
Moment & Bubbles). Viewer can change
the position of the magnetic fluid
dot, but cannot predict the dynamic
change. As the paper is transported
and heated, the observer's intervention
track will appear.

When I see a scene that I have been
before, the memory of the old things
will appear, as if there is a certain
boiling point, once the degree of
thoughts is reached, it will change into
another appearance. After the time
passed, the revises of memory, those
things that disappeared, in another
way, confirming their existence, and
once again met with me.
概念
「念念」作為「此刻」的後續,如果說「此刻」說的是對那些消失的遺憾,那麼「念念」就是描述終於釋然的心情。
總在看到似曾相識的場景時,舊事的記憶就會浮現彷彿思念到達一定的沸點,便碳化成另一個模樣。經過時間的沈澱,記憶的修繕,那些消失的東西便以另一種姿態印證自己存在的同時,又再度和我相見了。
How it works
The magnetic fluid in the water is attracted by the magnet and gathers into a "black spot", and the position of the magnet depends on the motor and gears which are running behind the device. The normal state of the device is that the black point keeps moving in a vertical straight line. However, when the viewer turns the knob, the running state of the gear will be changed, and the black point will change position according to the viewer's rotation, and continuously move in the circle. The specially formulated transparent ink will follow the position of the magnetic fluid and draw the track on the rice paper. The ink marks will evaporate and disappear. The blank rice paper will be transferred to the copper plate as the roller rotates. The copper tube that is energized continuously heats the copper plate. Because the ignition point of the special ink is lower than that of paper, it will be carbonized first, leaving traces after carbonization naturally, showing the previous trajectory of black spots.
運作原理
水中的磁流體被磁鐵所吸引,聚集成一個「黑點」,而磁鐵的位置則取決與運轉的馬達和齒輪,裝置的尋常狀態是黑點維持在縱方向的直線上進行等速的上下運動,但當觀者轉動旋鈕後,將改變齒輪的運行狀態,黑點就會根據觀者的轉動改變位置,在圓中不斷運動。特殊調配後的透明墨水會隨著磁流體的位置變化,在宣紙上畫出黑點的運行軌跡,其產生的水痕很快蒸發消失,空白的宣紙隨著滾輪轉動而被傳送到銅板上,通電的銅管持續對銅板進行加溫,由於特製墨水的燃點比紙張更低,會首先被碳化,自然的留下碳化後的痕跡,顯現出黑點曾經的運行軌跡。
